Hello Everyone! I'm USPTA Certified Tennis Pro John Christopher. I hope everyone's good. I'm doing great. I teach tennis (and fitness) at Billie Jean KingTennis Center in Long Beach, CA. Please call or write for available Private Lesson windows!
JOHN'S BIO: LA's most enthusiastic tennis pro. This guy eats, sleeps, drinks, and dreams tennis. Except that is when he's busy at his job as a commercial analyst. John grew up playing baseball and football in Pasadena ,CA. He's lived in San Francisco, New York and London and is a graduate of Long Beach State with a B.A. in History. He has a beautiful wife and little family which you can see at thezooms.com. He finished in the top 27% in the 2006 Long Beach Marathon and in the top 11% in the 2006 Seal Beach 10k by training "mostly by playing a lot of tennis." GOALS/VISION/PHILOSOPHY I believe that all player's primary goal in playing tennis should be to HAVE FUN. If you are having fun it's easier to RELAX and FLOW. Relaxing is a well documented technique which will improve your play. Flow is a sense of playing point by point with a rhythm and balancing emotions evenly. Relaxing and having fun also help players to THINK POSITIVELY. Confidence and positive thinking are essential qualities for maximum performance. PREPARATION and PLANNING for matches typically are not implemented as diligently as they should be. Scouting your oppponents and creating a game plan are critical to success. Of course one has to learn and practice the FUNDAMENTALS of both technique and basic strategy. Finally, in order to win, you have to KEEP THE BALL IN PLAY. Even the pros hit most of their shots well inside lines.
